We are interested in recruiting highly motivated and creative bachelor, master and PhD students to study the fascinating molecular organization of biological membranes. Our lab takes an interdisciplinary approach to this topic, employing biophysical, biochemical and cell biological techniques.
Our lab focuses on the in vitro reconstitution of cellular membrane systems. Specifically, we use recombinantly expressed proteins and purified native protein complexes in combination with model membrane systems, including planar lipid bilayers (single channel electrophysiology), giant unilamellar vesicles and supported bilayers. In vitro findings are then explored in appropriate cell biology systems.
Students with an interest in biochemistry, biophysics and cell biology are encouraged to apply. We are a young and highly motivated group offering projects with a broad range of techniques and integration into the international research campus in Göttingen, Germany.
